The “Manley Tradition” STEM Scholarship Fund

As an accomplished alum of Amherst County High School, Class of 1998, Mr. Shawn Manley is founding a new STEM Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is dedicated to empowering the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians from Amherst County High School (ACHS).

This STEM Scholarship Fund aims to provide financial support to bright and talented students who demonstrate a passion for STEM fields. Each year, the fund will award scholarships to deserving ACHS seniors to help ease the financial burden of their post-secondary education. By investing in these future leaders, Mr. Manley envisions a community where innovation and discovery are encouraged and nurtured.

Who can apply?

Eligible applicants must be ACHS seniors planning to pursue a degree or certificate in a STEM discipline at an accredited college or university. Candidates will be evaluated based on their academic achievements, financial need, and a compelling personal statement highlighting their aspirations in STEM.

Scholarship Award Amount

Individual award amounts will be based on the number of qualified applications received. Final funding decisions will be made prior to the Senior Scholarship Ceremony held in May. All funds will be mailed directly to the college/university once the scholarship recipient provides the necessary enrollment verification to ACPSEF. Checks are typically mailed the end of July before the Fall semester.

Application Submission

Completed applications must be submitted to the ACPS Education Foundation via email at educationfoundation@amherst.k12.va.us by April 30, 2026.
